Graphical decoration

Graphical decoration is the technique of depositing a pattern, design or logo onto a product with a material such as tempered chocolate, fat compound or RudinJet edible paste. You create the design in software, and an array of individually controlled nozzles applies it onto each product. Vision technology recognises every product on the conveyor, so the design lands correctly even on misaligned or randomly placed items, and you switch designs by loading a recipe, with no mechanical change-overs.

Decoration depositing with FoodJet

Add a visual signature to your products without changing the base product or your production line. FoodJet depositors place chocolate, compound or edible paste in repeatable patterns, so you can produce seasonal, branded or customer-specific products on the same equipment.

Any design, defined in software

Design the image or pattern in FoodJet Designer Studio and upload it to the depositing system. The rows of depositor heads are activated individually and apply the material to match the design, so the pattern is printed onto the product. You can create and store a wide range of designs and switch between them by loading the matching recipe.

Accurate placement on misaligned products

Products are rarely perfectly aligned on the conveyor. The FoodJet vision system detects the position and shape of each product, so the decoration lands where you want it, even on misaligned or randomly placed items, without aligning the products first.

Switch designs without mechanical change-overs

Each product-and-design combination is stored in the software. To switch from one product or design to another you load the recipe and keep running. The precision lives in the software, so operators do not make mechanical changes between products.

What is graphical decoration?

Graphical decoration is the technique of depositing a pattern, design or logo onto a product with a material such as tempered chocolate, fat compound or RudinJet edible paste. A vision-guided depositor applies the design to each product, so it works on misaligned and randomly placed products without aligning them first.

Which materials can FoodJet deposit for decoration?

Common materials are tempered chocolate, fat compound and RudinJet edible paste. For each product there is a material that fits the look you want, and the system is configured to your material and line.

Can FoodJet decorate misaligned or randomly placed products?

Yes. The vision system detects the position and shape of each product, so the decoration lands correctly without the products being aligned first.

Can I switch between designs without mechanical change-overs?

Yes. Each product-and-design combination is stored in the software. You switch by loading the recipe and keep running, with no mechanical changes.

Can I create my own designs?

Yes. You design the image or pattern in FoodJet Designer Studio and upload it to the depositing system, which then applies it to your products.

What products are typically decorated?

Common examples are cookies, donuts, cakes, ice cream and bread. Because each system is built around your product, other decorated products can be handled too.
